Lucie - Marketing
Introduce yourself
My name is Lucie, I'm French and am passionate about travelling, anything to do with food and wine (French cliché but true) and of course classic cars.
How would you describe your role to someone outside of your field?
I’m part of the marketing team, and a big focus of my role is creating emails that give visibility to our products and keep our subscribers engaged. These emails showcase what’s new on the site, share helpful updates for buyers and sellers, and give a bit of insight into the world of classic cars.
How long have you been with Car & Classic, and what drew you to join the team?
I’ve been part of Car & Classic for just over two years now. I was drawn to the role because it aligned so well with my skills and interests—it’s not every day you find a job that lets you combine your expertise with your love of classic cars! I also really appreciated the remote-first approach, which gave me the flexibility I was looking for. Plus, getting to use English daily in my work was a huge motivator for me.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
It’s a combination of two things: looking at stunning cars all day and working with such a talented and supportive team. I love seeing how my contributions impact our campaigns and how our work comes together to deliver results. It’s rewarding to be part of a team that shares a passion for what we do.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I start working around 7AM (my choice early so that I can take a break around 9 to workout!!), I make my to-do list for the day, check my emails and start working. I'll usually get stuck into creating campaigns or analysing data.
Who do you work closely with, and how does your team support each other?
The people I work closely with are my manager and the wider marketing team. We're usually supporting each other through brainstorming for campaigns or giving insight into our different channels.
Since joining Car & Classic, what new skills have you developed or areas you’ve strengthened?
I’ve grown so much since joining the team. I’ve mastered a new CRM platform, picked up basic HTML skills for email coding, and honed my project management abilities. I’ve also developed a stronger understanding of segmentation and results analysis, which helps us deliver more targeted and effective campaigns. It’s been a great opportunity to expand my skillset and take on new challenges.
Is there something you’ve achieved here that you’re especially proud of?
One thing I’m especially proud of is seeing our email performance improve over the past two years. It’s rewarding to know that the work I’ve put into optimising campaigns and refining strategies has made a difference.
What’s been your favourite moment working at Car & Classic?
Getting to meet up with the rest of the company last year. It was nice to be able to meet the people I work with every day. I had a really good couple of days, we built go-karts, went to Brooklands and had a nice dinner too!
How would you describe the Car & Classic culture? How does this resonate with you?
A gathering of people who love all things classic and are passionate about their jobs. Everyone here loves what they do and is invested in the company's success and it's nice to be involved with like-minded people.
What car or bike on Car & Classic would you love to drive?
Basic but classic, a 911 Targa.
How would you describe Car & Classic in just three words?
Passion, Classics, International
What surprised you the most about your team or the work environment when you first joined?
The kindness of the marketing team members and how welcoming they were. They'd never met me and we are fully remote, but it was still so welcoming and easy to get up-to-speed.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone considering a role like yours?
Be curious and express yourself. It's a role that your input is important, so make sure you share your ideas and contribute as it will definitely help!
