Isaac - Product Design
Introduce yourself
I'm Isaac! A Senior UX/UI designer at Car & Classic. I have a real passion for all things art and design and also love cars.
How would you describe your role to someone outside of your field?
I make the navigation on our website for our customers easy and efficient but also try to make everything look pretty at the same time.
How long have you been with Car & Classic, and what drew you to join the team?
I have been with Car & Classic since May 2024, and what drew me to the team was meeting everyone that had the same passion for delivering an exciting product as I had. The team also love to work towards having a strong impact but also have a fun time which makes the days so much more enjoyable. Everyone is so friendly and are super helpful.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love being able to see the work I do have a real time impact, but also love the rounds of feedback that I have. Showing stakeholders future plans and then refining. I believe this helps me to not only put out a better product, but also helps be to become a better designer overall through a deeper understanding of user needs.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I have a short reflection before stand up, where I will go back on what was worked on the previous day (a fresh set of eyes in the morning works wonders) and also form a plan for the current day. Then the team will have a stand up meeting. I will then crack on with what my plans are for the day and then have meetings in-between if needed.
Who do you work closely with, and how does your team support each other?
I work closely with our Head of Design, our Product Managers and many of our Developers. We have a great connection which makes the understanding and handover of briefs and designs much easier.
Since joining Car & Classic, what new skills have you developed or areas you’ve strengthened?
A new area of strength for me is being able to ask better questions during feedback rounds. Also challenging myself every day to be a better designer and think more 'out of the box' By doing this helps form better understanding and pushes the design to newer heights.
Is there something you’ve achieved here that you’re especially proud of?
I'm quite proud of delivering our automated translation system.
What’s been your favourite moment working at Car & Classic?
One of my favourite moments was meeting the team in person for my first week. As we are a fully remote company all of our meetings are usually done on zoom or slack, so it was nice to sit with everyone in the same room and build strong relationships as part of my onboarding.
How would you describe the Car & Classic culture? How does this resonate with you?
It's a lovely place to work. Everyone works hard, and loves to have a fun time whilst doing so.
What car or bike on Car & Classic would you love to drive?
Nissan Skyline R34 GTR.
How would you describe Car & Classic in just three words?
Exciting, authentic, fun!
What surprised you the most about your team or the work environment when you first joined?
Everyone's kindness. Starting somewhere new can be challenging, but everyone made me feel so welcome that I wasn't afraid to ask questions.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone considering a role like yours?
Stay inspired and always challenge yourself to be a better designer.
