Biba - CS
Introduce yourself
My name is Biba (named after a very cool fashion brand from the 60's), and I adore painting, sketching, and anything related to the visual arts. Around work, I can be found with a paintbrush most days. Painting is my way to relax and express myself. I am also a huge horror movie fan, and nothing makes me happier than putting on a scary movie with a glass of red wine in hand. I have always had an interest in cars (especially the mechanical side of things), and this is a passion which has grown over the last few years. I am currently training for a marathon, which is probably the biggest challenge I have ever faced.
How would you describe your role to someone outside of your field?
We are responsible for ensuring all classified adverts are published on the website, alongside answering customer queries of all kinds. We support our trade teams with business accounts and help to make sure sales from classified adverts run smoothly.
How long have you been with Car & Classic, and what drew you to join the team?
I have been part of the Car and Classic family for just over 3 years now. When I first saw the job opening, it sounded like the perfect role for me. I have always been passionate about providing first-class customer service, and continuing to work in the automotive industry was important to me. My uncle has been an avid customer of Car and Classic for many years, and his passion for the company was really exciting. The more I read about the company, the more I wanted to work for them.
What do you enjoy most about your role?
I love the variety in my role. No two days will be the same. We are at the forefront of the company, so having that direct communication with customers is great. Being able to leave a customer with a great, lasting impression of us is something that gives me a lot of job satisfaction. I also think that looking at such stunning cars each day is a massive perk.
What does a typical day look like for you?
I usually start my day by making sure any outstanding adverts are published on-site. Next, I will catch up with any customer emails that need responses and make sure that any outstanding requests have been actioned. Requests will range from general questions to troubleshooting accounts or aiding customers in our processes. I will set up new Trade accounts to assist our marketplace team where required and make sure we are supporting other business areas where needed. I will then make sure that our post-sale buyers/sellers are offered support throughout their journey.
Who do you work closely with, and how does your team support each other?
My team consists of 4 wonderful women. We have a great support network within our team, and each person goes above and beyond to make sure our department runs smoothly. Our weekly meetings are a great time to catch up and help us feel like part of a team, even though we are remote. We are lucky to also be quite closely involved with our Marketplace team and our Developers. We will work together to help our valued traders and troubleshoot any problems customers may be facing to make sure their experience with us is as positive as it can be.
Since joining Car & Classic, what new skills have you developed or areas you’ve strengthened?
Since joining Car and Classic, I have learnt so much. We can integrate with so many departments within the business, and all teams are always excited to help each other learn more about what they do. I have had an insight into marketing, sales, and engineering, which I have never had in previous roles. Being able to ask questions and understand different departments within the business helps us all align with our goals and be excited about our company's future.
Is there something you’ve achieved here that you’re especially proud of?
Being part of the launch of one of our Classified projects stands out to me. Having input and being able to voice my ideas to help shape the product's evolution has been incredibly exciting and fulfilling.
What’s been your favourite moment working at Car & Classic?
I have had a few favourite moments, but the one that stands out to me the most is when I met the whole company in real life for the first time. We went to a Classic car show, which was such a fun evening, and spending a couple of days in everyone's company was treasured.
How would you describe the Car & Classic culture? How does this resonate with you?
This sounds corny, but I feel like we are a family. You never expect to feel close to colleagues when working remotely, but the opposite is true here. I never feel as though I am working alone, and whenever I have needed support, it's been there. We are all so passionate about the company, and this shows very much in how we all work together to constantly improve what we do.
What car or bike on Car & Classic would you love to drive?
I would have loved to have had a ride in the beast! the ultimate Car and Classic consignment. But putting that aside, I have a special love for classic Mercedes and Elvis's Cadillac too!
How would you describe Car & Classic in just three words?
Exciting, Supportive, motivating
What surprised you the most about your team or the work environment when you first joined?
The amazing team spirit and support. Also the transparency of the company to make you feel part of the companies journey from the off.
What’s one piece of advice you’d give to someone considering a role like yours?
There will be some stressful days, but the positives will always outweigh this. Hard work will always be rewarded, and to become part of a company that is evolving is the most exciting experience.
